The Elkhorn Lodge was officially sold on Friday, November 13, 2020.
For nearly 30 years, the Elkhorn Lodge has been under the ownership of the Zahourek family. A two year process, the Buyer worked with the Town government, various organizations including the Estes Park Museum and neighbors. These entities came together to develop a plan that will bring the Elkhorn Lodge back to a shining star of the west end of town.Originally built in 1874, the Elkhorn Lodge was a hunting lodge. The property was home to Estes Park’s first school building and served as a stage coach stop and a casino. The property, now sized at 40 acres, was originally much larger. However, thousands of acres have since been deeded to Rocky Mountain National Park.
Starting in the spring of 2021, extensive renovations to the Elkhorn Lodge will include the main Lodge and the Coach House. New development will include additional accommodations, restaurants, shopping venues and an event barn.
